It felt as though leadership did not think it was a big deal, because people were using the platform to harness "the power of the human voice". When it came to light that people their were using Zello, the concern of how the company would address this was brought up by employees. Specifically, the Capitol Insurrection on 1/6. One of the biggest cons of this company is the association with some important political and cultural events. Goals and OKRs for individuals and teams change rapidly and frequently, so it's pretty difficult to actually make a large impact on anything before you're suddenly told to shift and focus on something else. So, the chance for a good service and good mission is there.įrom the standpoint of non-management employees, this company lacks a lot of direction. There is a need for a reliable, effective, and affordable (or free) communication platform for emergency services, small teams, and individuals. It has a startup mentality and feel if you're into that.Īlthough this company has had some connection with some pretty bad news, it does genuinely provide a good service in many circumstances. The people working there are very nice, and the majority of the team is very intelligent. Decent compensation, but I wouldn't say it's anything ground breaking. Employees get to keep the purchased tech. mandatory sabbatical for more tenured employees (possibly after 5 years?) They aren't equal opportunity employers, which is really unfortunate given their great benefits. That's a big one! Women shouldn't be getting paid less for the same position. There also needs to be a more equal pay structure. After a while, it gets tiring that everything is decentralized. You need a set plan for company direction and the reason employees leave is because there's so many things in the air. The micro managing makes doing your job harder if he focuses heavily on your dept tbh. He's extremely involved in lower-level company activities that should be left to leadership and management. Diversity also isn't really a thing however due to gentrification Austin is predominantly a white city now.ĬEO is a nice guy but he's a micro-manager. You can also see it in management, more men in leadership positions. Women get paid less than men and I've heard that from a few people. They hire externally for most management and leadership positions and internal promotions are low. There's high turnover rates and there's no growth opportunities. They have pretty good pay and benefits, my salary is above market and I've heard the same for other positions. I work more on the customer facing side so I hear great feedback in terms of how much they like using our system so it's always nice to hear that you're working with something that's actually effective! It's a small company so it's pretty nice in terms of environment. Great culture, everyone is friendly and overall understanding when it comes to life events. overall I love Zello but I'm a pretty blunt person so it's going to be a pretty transparent review.
